The growing socio-economic factors, peer pressure, family crisis, health issues and the inability to cope with life changing circumstances lead to people giving up hope and committing suicide. A problem faced by people of all ages is the growing cause of worry in the world today. Suicide can be a result of rejection, failure or pain and can have drastic effects on the near and dear ones of the person committing suicide. It is very important to help people cope up with their problems and provide them all the emotional support needed in order to stop this practice.With the main aim to stop, prevent and provide help to people with suicidal tendencies the International Association for Suicide Prevention World Congress is being held at Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia from 18th July to 22nd July ‘2017. This congress will have world renowned psychiatrist, clinical specialists, doctors and psychologists with their latest studies and research work regarding the different counseling techniques and methods to prevent suicides which will help the patients overcome their pain and agony. The theme of the meet is, Preventing Suicide: A Global Commitment, from Communities to Continents (IASP) and Mental Illness: Early Intervention Facilitates Recovery (MCPM). The IASP Congress 2017 is being held in collaboration with 21st Malaysian Conference of Psychological Medicine (MCPM). This meet will be an excellent platform for exchange of clinical and scientific knowledge amongst the best of the best psychiatrist, psychologists, clinicians and doctors, all working towards preventing suicide and providing help to people affected by it.
